Library Committee

Introduction:
The Library Committee plays an essential role in managing and developing the college library as a knowledge resource center for students and faculty. The library provides access to a wide range of academic resources including books, reference materials, magazines, journals, and newspapers. With a collection of 25,786 books, including 5,994 reference books, along with 14 magazines and journals and 5 newspapers, the library serves as an important hub for academic learning, research, and self-study.
Objective:
The main objective of the Library Committee is to ensure effective management, organization, and development of library resources, and to promote a culture of reading and knowledge sharing among students and staff. The committee works towards maintaining an updated, user-friendly, and well-equipped library that supports the academic needs of the institution.
Functions:

  1. Library Resource Management:
    Oversee the proper acquisition, organization, and maintenance of books, reference materials, magazines, journals, and newspapers.
  2. Book Procurement:
    Recommend and assist in the selection and procurement of new books, reference materials, and periodicals based on the curriculum and emerging academic requirements.
  3. Resource Utilization:
    Encourage students and faculty to effectively utilize library resources for academic development, research, and knowledge enhancement.
  4. Library Rules Implementation:
    Formulate and implement rules for proper usage of library resources, ensuring discipline, proper borrowing, and return of books and materials.
  5. Maintain Records:
    Maintain accurate records of all books, journals, magazines, newspapers, book issues, returns, and library membership details.
  6. Promote Reading Culture:
    Organize activities such as Book Exhibitions, Reading Competitions, and Awareness Programs to motivate students towards regular reading habits.
  7. Library Maintenance:
    Ensure that the library environment is clean, well-organized, and user-friendly, with proper seating, lighting, and cataloging systems.
  8. Assist Students and Faculty:
    Provide guidance to students and faculty members in accessing required books, journals, and research material.
  9. Periodic Review:
    Conduct regular reviews of the library stock and suggest removal or replacement of outdated or damaged books.
