Unfair Means Committee

The Unfair Means Committee is constituted to ensure the integrity and fairness of the examination process in the institution. Its primary responsibility is to investigate and take appropriate action against students found using unfair means during examinations or involved in any kind of malpractice related to academic assessments.

Objectives:

• To maintain a fair and transparent examination process.
• To prevent and address any incidents of cheating, plagiarism, impersonation, or other unfair practices.
• To uphold academic discipline and the reputation of the institution.

Functions:

• Monitor and supervise examinations to detect and prevent unfair practices.
• Receive complaints or reports regarding the use of unfair means.
• Conduct inquiries with proper documentation when a case of unfair means is reported.
• Provide an opportunity for the concerned student to present their case.
• Recommend appropriate actions such as warnings, disqualification, suspension, or other disciplinary measures as per the college rules.
• Maintain confidentiality and impartiality throughout the inquiry process.

ORDINANCE 5050 : Ordinance regarding Unfair Means (Copying Case)  Resorted to by the student

The broad categories of Unfair Means resorted by students at the University / College / Institutions Examinations and the Quantum of Punishment will be as per the ORDINANCE 5050 University of Mumbai, given below :

Processional of copying material	Annulment of the performance of the student at the University/ College / Institution examination in full
(Note: This quantum of punishment shall apply to the following categories of malpractices at Sr.no 2 to Sr.no.12 in addition to the punishment prescribed thereat.)
Actual copying from the copying material	Exclusion of the Students from University/ College / Institution examination for one additional examination
