Women Development Cell (WDC)

Introduction:
The Women Development Cell (WDC) is a mandatory and integral body of our college, dedicated to promoting gender parity, women’s empowerment, and the well-being of female students and staff. The cell provides a safe platform where students can freely express their opinions on issues that affect their personal and academic lives. The WDC actively organizes various activities, workshops, and awareness programs aimed at creating a supportive environment and sensitizing the college community about gender-related issues. As per University norms, the college has conducted important events such as a Three-Day “Self Defense Workshop for Women & Girls” along with other awareness initiatives including street skits on Gender Equality, Poster Making Competitions to promote Women’s Rights, and Essay Writing Competitions on social issues faced by modern women.
Objective:
The primary objective of the Women Development Cell is to promote gender equality, create awareness about women’s rights, empower female students and staff, and develop a safe, supportive, and respectful academic environment. The cell seeks to encourage confidence, self-reliance, and a sense of responsibility among women for their personal, academic, and social well-being.
Functions:

  1. Promote Gender Equality:
    Organize events and activities to raise awareness about gender equality and challenge societal stereotypes related to gender roles.
  2. Empower Women Students:
    Conduct programs such as Self Defense Workshops to equip women students and girls with practical skills and confidence to ensure their personal safety and independence.
  3. Create Awareness on Women’s Rights:
    Conduct Poster Making Competitions, Street Plays, and Essay Writing Competitions to sensitize students about women’s rights, gender discrimination, and social challenges faced by women today.
  4. Provide a Platform for Expression:
    Encourage students to express their opinions on matters related to gender issues, women’s rights, harassment, and challenges they face in daily life.
  5. Organize Seminars and Workshops:
    Conduct seminars, guest lectures, and interactive workshops on topics related to women’s health, legal rights, gender sensitization, and empowerment.
  6. Counseling and Support:
    Provide counseling and guidance to students facing gender-related problems, harassment, or discrimination in the college.
  7. Documentation and Reporting:
    Maintain records of all activities conducted, participation details, outcomes, and reports of workshops and events for future reference and auditing purposes.
